Five RLHS students competed at the 2019 Great Falls College Invitational Welding Contest February 7th. All students placed in the top 10. Malyn McJunkin placed 10th, Brady Grove 6th, James Graham 5th, Ruff Elton 3rd and Bryce Elton was 2nd, Ruff also placed 1st in the SMAW welding simulator. There were only 8 points separating positions 1-6. The welders demonstrated their skills in 6 areas. The contest consisted of 4 T joints which were welded using SMAW, GTAW and GMAW process, oxy/fuel cutting station a written test and a Lincoln Electric welding simulator.
The RLHS Skills-USA team would like to thank Kids Corner for awarding a $250 grant to the club. The grant was used to pay for the clubs lodging while attending the contest. Thank you for your generous donation.
