Red Lodge FFA was founded in 1954. This year we have 60 FFA members at Red Lodge High School.

Our chapter has been working on building an agriculture facility at the high school. In 2016 we built our Chicken coop, last year we added a greenhouse and this year we planted an orchard of 9 fruit trees.

Our students compete at the state level in Veterinary Science, Floriculture and Horse Judging. These teams are supported by community members who assist with the coaching: “Thank you: Denise, Hannah, Lindsay, Dr Frank and Cara!

This year four outstanding freshmen students were awarded $1,000 each for their SAE projects. Trent was given the money to help start his cattle herd. Margot received it to build a greenhouse to house her hydroponics system. Lexi will be using the money to get a camera for filming agricultural documentaries. Alice got $1,000 to help start her gourmet popcorn business.

There are definitely some ambitious and awesome FFA members in our school. There is also some wonderful community support here in Red Lodge! This week we want to recognize and celebrate both.

Please support us at our 4th Annual Plant Sale May 11 and 18 at the greenhouse from 10-2. If you want to help or just say “Hi” and give us some ideas….contact me at allyson_lammiman@redlodge.k12.mt.us

Lastly, a shout out to our amazing officer team! These student leaders are the ones that make it happen!

Go Katie, Shayna, Shaye, Hailey, Madison, Carmen, Hayden, Finn, Austin, Gracey and Kaycee!
